Rare set of 7 tapes by renowned martial arts instructor Yoshinori Kono. This set was never released on DVD.

Tape 1: Igeta Jutsuri – “The Roots of Bujutsu” – 45 min.
Yoshinori Kono is one of Japan’s top martial artists and a noted kobujutsu historian. Kono demonstrates and explains his remarkable technique based on 20 years of research. Of special interest to aikido and jujutsu devotees, this tape introduces numerous taijutsu, battojutsu, kenjutsu, and sojutsu techniques for the first time. 

Tape 2: Ware to Uki – “The Roots of Bujutsu I” – 56 min.
Yoshinori Kono is one of Japan’s leading martial artists and head of the Shoseikan Dojo in Tokyo. In the second video of the series. Kono Sense skillfully demonstrates his latest technical innovations including tachidori, taijutsu of special interest to aikidoka, kenjutsu, and battojutsu. 

Tape 3: Battojutsu to Ken & Taijutsu – “Roots of Bujutsu III,” 45 min.
In this amazing video, Yoshinori Kono introduces his unique art of sword-drawing (battojutsu) by coping with a sword-wielding opponent in various situations. The speed and precision of Kono’s techniques are unmatched among modern-day budo masters. Also, a 7th dan in shurikenjutsu, Kono demonstrates his expert skills in this rare weapon-throwing art.

Tape 4: Mukaemi e no Tenkai – “The Roots of Bujutsu IV” 53 min.
Yoshinori Kono, one of Japan’s most innovative martial artists and researchers, continues his “Roots of Bujutsu” series with volume 4. This tape explores Kono’s concept of “mukaemi,” the “natural posture” he uses to lull the attacker before unleashing his lightning fast techniques. Numerous taijutsu are demonstrated with Kono also explaining the skeletal and muscle relationship during the execution of techniques.

Tape 5: Ukezu Kawasazu – “The Principle of Direct Entry,” 51 min.
In this remarkable video, Yoshinori Kono of the Shoseikan Dojo introduces the
principle of direct entry without blocking or parrying for dealing with attacks. Kono demonstrates his unique approach against numerous attacks including hand grabs, rear attacks, tackles, sword attacks and more! Self-training exercises using the sword, bo and shuriken are also presented.

Tape 6: – Bujutsu no Kihon Kozo -“The Basic Structure of Martial Arts,” 45 min.
The innovative Yoshinori Kono of the Shoseikan Dojo explores in detail the historical principles of budo as they apply to modern martial arts and sports. Kono demonstrates his unique theories through body arts, battojutsu, kenjutsu, sports applications, and shuriken.

Tape 7: “Martial Principles,” 50 min.

In this final volume in the series, Yoshinori Kono details martial principles that underlie Aikido, Jujutsu and other arts.
